Ress — The Radiant Adventuress
Ress is curious, sensitive, and full of imagination!
She doesn’t always feel brave at first, but she’s learning to listen inside, try again, and follow what lights her up. Ress loves dancing to her favorite music, exploring new places, making new friends, and discovering what she enjoys.
Ress’ favorite things are her trusty adventure backpack and singing her “I Am Radiant” song.
Fun Fact: Ress loves music so much that her feet start moving before she notices!
Gio the Gecko
Gio is Ress’s best friend.
He’s thoughtful, playful, and always nearby when Ress needs to take a breath, brainstorm ideas, or see things differently. He believes every adventure starts with curiosity!
Gio is great at noticing feelings, asking helpful questions, and reminding Ress of her inner spark.
Gio’s favorite things are eating tasty insect snacks and sunning on a warm rock.
Fun Fact: Gio and Ress have secret adventure plans (and they change every day!)

Children benefit from learning how to relate to emotions, desires, and disappointments in an honest, yet healthy way rather than avoiding them.
As the adult role models in their lives, we can do this through offering guidance, support, presence through listening, and trust. By introducing healthy ways to relate to feelings, challenges, and curiosity early in life, we give children tools they can carry into relationships, learning, and self-expression as they grow into adulthood.
It’s also an invitation for adults to reconnect with their own inner knowing and spark
alongside the children they love.
About the Author
Emily Cassista is an educator, facilitator, author, and relationship coach.
Her work—also found under the name Emmi Fortin—supports emotional growth, communication, and self-awareness in both children and adults.
Through stories and simple tools, she helps people (and growing up people) respond to life with clarity, agency, and compassion.
